The Board of Supervisors approved a resolution authorizing the Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board to borrow up to $2.1 million to purchase and renovate a former Kentucky Fried Chicken property in Culpeper for offices and use as a commercial kitchen for nutrition programs.
The approval was not without controversy, however. Community Services Board member Rose Ann Sharp appeared at the meeting and said Culpeper, Madison and Orange counties had already given approval and Fauquier had asked for more information. She said the supervisors should not let the controversy over the senior nutrition site in Rappahannock County deter them from approving the resolution allowing the CSB to borrow money, which will be secured by the property itself. The county cannot be held liable for the loan she said, and Commonwealth's Attorney Peter Luke agreed.
