the National Geographic-sponsored Jason V Project in Belize, Central America. In this unique educational project, scientists were filmed as they explored and discussed insect life on specially designed walkways in the trees of the rain forest canopy. This was telecast internationally to classrooms for specially selected high school students.
More recently, Mr. Erwin taught a group of Mexican teachers about their country's abundant and fascinating insect life. This was done in a remote and little known cloud forest in Northeastern Mexico.
Highly regarded as an enthusiastic teacher, Nate ‘Erwin has taught courses on insects in Washington, D.C. for the Audubon Naturalist Society and the Department of Agriculture Field School. In the summers of 1995 and 1996, Mr. Erwin conducted two-day seminars on butterflies for the Airlie Foundation in Warrenton. He travels widely and lectures on butterfly gardens on which he is considered an expert.
