Manson be reappointed for a new three-year term. "Ms. Manson is a dedicated Board member and we would be very pleased if the Board of Supervisors would consider her reappointment," he wrote.
Mr. Frazier nominated Frank Warner for the position, and Hampton District representative Mike Massie seconded that nomination.
Chairman Hubert Gilkey nominated Ms. Manson, and Mr. Anderson seconded that nomination. That left Piedmont District representative Charles K. "Pete" Estes with the deciding vote.
Mr. Estes suggested tabling the vote on the appointment.
Mr. Anderson said the supervisors . would be "setting a precedent to take Ms. Manson off the board."
"She must be doing a good job is they made her chairman," Mr. Gilkey said.
Mr. Frazier said, "Fm not saying she didn't do a good job. It's time to get somebody with a different background."
Mr. Estes said, "It's a tough call, Fm not prepared to have you put me in this position."
The supervisors agreed to close the nominations and postpone the vote until January.
On Monday Mr. Warner asked that his name be withdrawn from consideration leaving Ms. Manson as the only nominee.
