Christopher M. Owens, 23, of Reva, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors, bad check charges, in Circuit Court last Friday.
He had taken the case to Circuit Court on a misdemeanor appeal after he was found guilty and sentenced in General District Court. He had been sentenced in that court to a total of 24 months in jail, with 12 months suspended.
The bad checks he was charged with passing were written on a closed account. Checks were written to Laurel Mills Store for $40, Ben Venue Market for $5, Hackley’s Store for $40 and to John Compton for $50.
