Helen Brown
Helen Miller Brown, 95, of Winchester died Wednesday, Jan. 8 at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 10 at Christ Episcopal Church by the Rev. Douglas William McCaleb. Burial was held at St. Paul's Cemetery in Woodville.
Mrs. Brown was bom Feb. 18, 1901, in Washington, daughter of the late Harry Jackson and Frances West Miller.
She was a homemaker and member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she had served as chairman of Christian Relation Committee, a founding member of the Old Fredericktowne Garden Club, Goldenage Master of the American Contract Bridge League and preservation of Historic Winchester.
She was valedictorian of Longwood College class of 1925. She was the wife of the late Harold G. Brown.
Surviving are a son, Harold G. Brown Jr. of Winchester; two daughter, Helen Buckley of Middletown and Frances Russell of Flint Hill; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Charles Hickerson
Charles Griffith Hickerson, 84, of Flint Hill died Tuesday, Jan. 14 in the Oak Springs Health Care Center in Warrenton.
Funeral services were held at the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 17 with the Rev. Merlin Shorb officiating.
Interment was in the Flint Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hickerson was bom May 14, 1912, in Arco, Va., the son of the late Charles William and Lucy Sealock Hickerson.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Hickerson of Flint Hill; one stepson, George L. Lillard of Springfield; one step-granddaughter, Dayna L. Roy of Fairfax anti one brother, Rayburn Hickerson of Front Royal.
