On a more personal note, I warmed particularly to the invocation delivered by the Rev. Billy Graham, when he quoted the same scriptural text from the prophet Micah that I had happened to quote the day before when speaking at our community's observance of Martin Luther King Day in Washington, Va.: the prophet's injunction "to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before your God.” And I recalled having heard Governor Adlai Stevenson quote from the same passage in his speech accepting the Democratic nomination in his unsuccessful quest to be President in 1952. Indeed, there were many parts of the Inaugural ceremony that evoked thoughts and dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose holiday of remembrance coincided both temporally and spiritually with President Clinton's address. This confluence of Clinton's and King's philosophy will, I expect, be what this Inaugural address is best remembered for, when our country holds its 78th Inaugural on the
