When it all comes together, the talent with her newfound knowledge, the result is a 112-pound varsity wrestler that is indeed competitive. The natural gift of being able to synchronize mind and body isn't found everywhere.

"It's a rare person who instinctively knows what to do as a wrestler," Steele said, explaining Kandice's God-given trait. "Some kids just don't make the association, her body and mind work together, and keeps her out of trouble.”

Kandice herself admits having trouble putting the bbdy and mind together. "Sometimes -I think too much. Instead of doing something right off the bat, it takes me a few seconds to think about what I'm going to do ... At school, now that [the student body] knows I'm wrestling, they'll say, 'See you on Wednesday.' They’ve heard that I'm really good, but I don't think I'm as good as they think I am.

"There's a lot of pressure to do well, and I owe it to my team."
