Girl Scouts Taking Cookie Orders
The Girl Scouts of the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council of Rappahannock are having their annual cookie sales until Feb. 3. The cookies are $2.50 per box. Please contact one of the scouts to order.
. Membership Meeting Planned
RAWL annual membership meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Rappahannock Library. The public is invited to attend. Election ‘•ofthe 1997 Board of Directors will be held and light refreshments will be served.
Classes Underway
Shorin-Ryv Okinawan Karate classes are currently underway on Wednesdays at Ki Theatre on Gay Street in Washington. Junior classes will be held 4 to 5:30 p.m. and women and senior citizens from 5:30 to 7 p.m. For more information call Arthur Drago, 5th Dan at 635-7554 or Betsy Toth, 2nd Dan at 349-0632. Learning Presentation Planned
A presentation for teachers and parents on “Optimizing Learning — Assisting Children to learn more effectively through Simple Techniques” will be given by Caroline Libby from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Rappahannock County High School in the home economics room. The cost is $ 15. Teacher recertification credit will be awarded.
Caroline Libby is Certified K-12 in language arts, math, and french. She is an Early Childhood Specialist and is currently teaching gifted students in Fauquier county. She is also trained in Neural Organization Technique. Parents of children with learning challenges are welcome! Call Laurie Marshall at 675-3267 if you have questions.
Celebration Planned
They might be running from their shadows in other places but in Rappahannock County “Groundhogs Just Wanna Dance” will be the celebration at 8 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Community Center. Friends of Gaia will present an encore of the psyche circus. Also returning will be Linda Ramer’s Gaia Ramma Jamma and new work from Kim Doyle and her students. There will be an admission charge of $5.
Classes, Workshops Scheduled
The Rappahannock County Public Schools will offer adult education classes and workshops beginning Feb. 3, 1997. A partial list of classes and workshops includes Computer Basics, Ballroom Dancing, Line Dancing and Texas Two Step, Photography, Drawing/Painting, Quilting, Basic Life Skills, CPR, and HTML Computer Language. Copies of the brochure are available at the following locations: Rappahannock County School Board Office, the Elementary School’s Main Office, the High School’s Main Office, and the Rappahannock Library. Open House at The Winery
The Oasis Winery will be hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 hor d’oeuvres, wine tasting, winery tours, Virginia made specialty food and gift products and live music on stage in celebration of Mardi Gras and Valentines Weekend!
