As Independence Day nears, we often celebrate w ith brilliant bursting arcs of burning color and fiery orations reminiscent of the drama that surrounded our nation's birth. Patrick Henry vowed his dedication to freedom in these unforgettable words. “I know not what course others may take, but as for me. give mj liberty or give ms death!" This was not a lukewarm remark, but a smoldering promise. Other great statesmen such as George W ashington. Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin...to name just a few ...expressed through deed and dedication that new life is not born without the searing pain and scars of separation and sacrifice. As each patriot signed the Declaration of Independence...as each Revolutionary soldier fell from British fire, he burned his brand in the history of our nation. \\ hile colorful sparks of light move and delight us this July Fourth, may we remember those that came before. May we never forget the true meaning of freedom's fire.
