To purchase a raffle ticket for the fundraising raffle which is being held by Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, call 675-1819, the number printed last week was incorrect.
In last week’s issue a sentence was mistakenly omitted from Mr. Roderick Sweet’s Letter to the Editor. The paragraph should have read:
During discussion of the controversial proposed amendments, several people in the County were heard to complain that they saw no reason to bring the Constitution into the conversation because this was a “local” issue. Apparently those people have forgotten that the Constitution was written by The Founding Fathers of this country specifically to protect individual citizens from oppression by local, state and federal government bodies whose objectives many seem benevolent but aren’t. It will not happen, I am sure, but it would benefit all if every citizen would read the Constitution and The Bill of Rights every few years just to be sure we are not being denied our rights, l „ Aa recent k history, has shown all too clearly, totalitarian regimes, whether communist or fascist, gained strength and ultimately complete control by gradually whittling away at individual freedoms, always accompanied by sensibly sounding reasons. There are far too many regulations and restrictions in America as it is. We don’t need more.
