Summer arrived with a bang and everyone is searching for something to satisfy their thirst. We all know that only water will truly do that, however, there are many summer drinks that are wonder- ^ fill, delicious, and very thirst quenching.
There are as many ways to use and serve beverages, as there are recipes. With the temperatures soaring well into the 90’s, a pitcher of lemonade is a real thirst quencher. A lemonade base is preat for those quick drinks, just make it ahead, add water and ice and you are ready for those unexpected guests. . Lemonade is definitely a drink that each family needs to decide just how sweet they like it, as well as how much of a lemon taste they desire. Our family loves the lemon taste and very tart, therefore, the following recipe may need to be adjusted for your enjoyment.
Make ahead
lemonade base
’ 2 1/2 cups water
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel
1 1/4 cups lemon juice
Cold water
Ice
1 lemon, thinly sliced
In a medium saucepan heat and stir water and sugar over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool 20 minutes. Add lemon peel and juice to sugar syrup. Pour into a covered jar and refrigerate. Base can be stored in the refrigerator up to three days.
