I have only observed the male Cardinal feeding these three. The female has already started her second nest in the lilac bush about 30 feet from the bird feeding station. The male is in charge now. He is a good and attentive father.
A House Wren is incubating five eggs in the nest box on a pole near the garage. This is the same box that produced four young bluebirds last year. Is this the same wren that savaged the bluebirds’ second attempt at nesting in 1996? That wren never succeeded in attracting a female.
