Maximum speed limits will be raised shortly to 70 mph for cars and 60 mph for trucks on most of Virginia’s interstate highway system, but will remain at present levels for 12 urban sections because of safety consideration.

of Supervisors will fill

School Board vacancies in Hampton and Wakefield Districts at their meeting July 6, as the four-year terms of Randall Updike and Paul Nichols expire.

Julie Whitworth, a rising junior at Wakefield School in Huntly, is one of 200 high school students statewide selected to attend the Governor’s School for the Gifted this summer at the University of Richmond.

Jan Lynn Hitt, a students at Rappahannock County High School, was named recently as an academic AllAmerican, the National Secondary Education Council announced.

Exercise is one of several factors that may contribute to heart health.
