Richmond, Va — Noting
that the four-day
Memorial Day holiday this year cost Virginia 20 traffic deaths, Colonel C.W. Woodson, Jr., Chairman of the Governor’s Highway Safety Committee and Superintendent of State Police today told motorists that a few simple precautions can heavily increase the chances of avoiding a Fourth of July crash.
The annual pit-cooked barbecue sponsored by Amissville Ruritan Club is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Amissville carnival grounds.
Midshipman Third Class Edward Page Moffett, NROTC son of Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Moffett, Jr. of Washington, Va. was awarded a Regular Scholarship in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Robert E. Cook, native of Flint Hill, and former employee in Shenandoah National Park, has returned to the area as District Ranger in the North section of the Park, Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins announced today.
