In January 1988, with their savings, they started Blueridge Technologies in the base* ment underneath Brown’s Appliances in Flint. Hill. Over the years they have expanded until they now occupy three floors and most of the building complex.
The business is a maze of offices staffed with people peering deeply into their computer terminals.
Dr. Jamieson said, “I like Flint Hill because it is away from the city traffic, but still only an hour’s drive to Dulles Airport. Amazingly, there are a number of technically trained people in the county and it is also easy to find people in Fairfax who are willing to drive west” Staffing is no problem for them.
They expect to do between $4 and $5 million this year. The company was sold to Metters Industries in Fairfax in May 1996. Metters is a systems integration company which designs and installs computer systems. It is one of the fastest growing privately held
