Photo Courtesy ot RUBY JENKINS FROM THE ATTIC: An old Menefee home stood on Main Street in Washington, Va. and was said to have been one of the nicest brick homes in the town. It had two front porches. The family bought the first car in town and town folks sat all day on the front porch waiting to see the car and maybe get a ride in it. Badly in need of repair, the home was sold and torn down in the 1940s to make room for a barbershop by Mr. Marion Watts. The building is owned now by Charlie Tompkins who is currently renovating it.
