Let’s be careful
The recent tragedy involving the death of a Virginia Department of Transportation supervisor was sad and deeply disturbing for all concerned.
VDOT officials have acknowledged that workers don’t always put safety first but focus on the job they’re doing rather than the passing public.
Mr. Miller was someone whom VDOT said did put particular emphasis on safety and still an accident occurred and he paid the ultimate price.
The mornings and evenings, dawn and dusk, are extremely dangerous driving times and call for us to be more alert than ever.
Driving and road conditions are also factors and in this county, with its many dangerous and winding secondary roads, may be even more so.
With so many county roads undergoing work we must all be especially careful to try and prevent any future accidents of this nature.
In the words of the sergeant on the popular television police saga, Hill Street Blues, “Let’s be careful out there!”
