the 14th MI Battalion at Fort Bragg, N. C., he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1969 at the rank of Major.
During the next decade Mr. Pierson consulted in the field of international trade involving extensive travel to the Republic of China. He then returned to California to work for Monterey County in a number of youth programs, where he applied his language skills to the employment of disadvantaged people.
Mr. Pierson is survived by a former wife Anne B. Tyler of Bayse Virginia, three sons, Roger Beach Pierson Jr., of Castleton, Bradley Sagar Pierson of Alexandria and Mitchell Jeffery Pierson of Fredericksburg and by three grandchildren.
Mr. Pierson’s ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. A graveside service with full military honors will be held July 13 at 8:30.
