friendship with the new eighth graders elected to be their mentees into the new millennium.
This very promising new phase of the mentoring activity has received enthusiastic support from the school officials, Jack Raines and Richard Smith. Both mentors and mentees have been carefully selected, profiled and matched for potential compatibility and personal interests by the Starfish Executive Board.
It was very heartwarming to the staff to see a special article in the summer edition of RCHS’s splendid newspaper, The Rapport. It was written by Austin Bouffard and given a bold headline, “Starfish Mentors To Youth.” We recommend its contents to parents and students and appreciate its inclusion in the RCHS newspaper.
The new team of high school senior mentors can count on our enthusiastic support. They already have our gratitude. They are: Allison Baker, Austin Bouffard, Meaghan Fairbrother, Marshall Gangel, Alice Gentry, Jami Gillis, Crystal Grigsby, Rebcecca Metcalfe, Sandra Oliver, Sara Opseth, Frank Paratore, Jennifer Thomas and Beth Yowell.
When asked about her interest in becoming a mentor, Meaghan Fairbrother said “I joined to help other kids. I thought that it would be interesting to meet someone I really didn’t know and to give them more opportunities. Everyone should be encouraged to be a mentor and a mentee”.
