wanted to stay with airplanes as a career. Bear has been a Rappahannock County resident since 1968, first in Amissville and on their current farm since 1973.
When asked why he would like to be supervisor, Bear gave two responses. First, friends urged him to run. Plus he has the time and can commit himself. Secondly, he has been in the county over 30 years and “I would like to give something back.”
A priority for Bear, should he be elected, is to fine-tune the budget. On the subject of schools, he wants to see the best education possible without inflating taxes. He would also like to see money trickle down to the front-line teachers instead of administrators.
Bear would also like to work with the Sheriff’s Office to reduce the need for new cars. He added “I’ve heard people say that they don’t want all the new cars around.” In addition, he favors exploring and promoting possibilities for the jail to earn money.
Bear thinks that the county should retain land-use for existing farms. He would also like to promote specialty farms, such as Sunnyside Farms, and work to attract businesses to the county that are environmentally friendly.
