Will attend State Tournament

in Charlottesville March 25

Five Rappahannock County High School public speaking students earned berths to the Virginia High School League (VHSL) state championship tournament. The regional competition was held on Saturday, March 11 at Stonewall Jackson High School in Quicksburg. State forensics finals are scheduled for Saturday, March 25, at Charlottesville High School.

Students qualifying for the state competition were: Seniors Rebecca Metcalfe, first in original oratory; Ian Blubaugh, second in foreign extemporaneous; Sara Dodd-Henze, second in spelling; Allison Baker, third in humorous interpretation and junior Tatiana Siccardi, third in original oratory.

Also competing at the regional tourney but not qualifying for the state competition were seniors Lainie Morgan, sixth in foreign extemporaneous; Adam Rogers, sixth in humorous poetry and Sandra Oliver, seventh in humorous interpretation.

Rapp students also earned top honors during earlier forensics competitions conducted in February and March. At the Virginia Catholic Forensics League
