Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! If you are Irish, make sure you wear green on Friday. But did you know, that if you are French you are supposed to wear red? There are lots of things to report so lets get started.
On March 9 the AACA met and a drawing of one of the signs for “Welcome to Amissville” was presented. It is really nice, it takes in the steeple at both churches and it is a “Living Sign” with a bird house and feeder. We are waiting for'a couple of other designs, and then we would like the community of Amissville to vote on the one they like the best.
We also voted to cosponsor a town meeting with the RLEP Rappahannock League of Environmental Protection. This meeting will be held on April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Amissville Fire House. The forum will be on Countering Sprawl. If you don’t want Amissville to turn into Warrenton, you need to attend this meeting.
On March 6 the homemakers met and they made Easter bunnies out of handkerchiefs. Their next meeting will be April 3 and the project will be Flower Arranging. For more information contact Wanda at 937-7518.
The team from Amissville Baptist received a great blessing as they traveled to Franklin this past week. In the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd last September many are still without their homes.
The team worked on two homes from Thursday to Saturday, roofing, dry wall finishing, painting and insulating. In the words of a Franklin man, “Christian love shown in repairing our homes has restored his faith in his fellow man.”
