Despite some public criticism about a Superintendent’s school budget that jumped more than $600,000 from last year, the school board, in a late night session attended by this reporter only, considered and okayed additional items that will tack-on $5700 to the bottom line. They also deferred decision on other “budget work session issue list” items that were priced at more than $40,000, and additional items that had not yet been priced out. The list of school board add-ons to the Superintendent’s budget included $5000 for vocational program startup funds, a $1000 increase in funding for the seventh grade trip, a $1400 decrease realized through the repair instead of replacement of the school bus fence, $1000 for fuel cost increases, and $100 for postage increases.
Yet to be considered by the school board are some bigger ticket items including $25,000 for additional elective courses, $12,500 for video surveillance systems, $3072 for cafeteria and custodial wage increases, and an as yet undefined amount for multi-yjear academic program - scheduling. These will be further dig- ' cussed at the budget work session"
