Trash Free Rappahannock has evolved. Going into its third year, local government is now supporting TFR efforts through the court system. Instead of collecting money to pay volunteers, TFR will be supervising young offenders to work off community service hours by picking up trash.
We will need local volunteers to transport and supervise them during five Saturday mornings, beginning March 25. Each district can use this resource to clean up its roadside garbage, but is being asked to provide a “local contribution” in the form of at least four volunteers for one half day. The supervisor from each district has identified a “point of contact” volunteer to organize other volunteers and coordinate the identification of roads.
Please call your local point of contact, if you can volunteer four and one-half hours on Saturday morning (7:30 a.m. until 12) this spring. If your availability does not mesh with your district’s date, please help another. The supply of labor will be available for the long term future, so long as sufficient local volunteers are available.
