versus the real world. Look at Figure 1. It shows a circle and its diameter. Now according to “The Brotherhood,” in a perfect world the circumference of the circle would be three times the diameter. Now look at Figure 2. This is a greatly enlarged picture of just one small section of the circumference of the circle. Notice all the little bumps from the pen or pencil trying to draw a perfect circle? Add all these little bumps up and you get 114159. That’s why the realists say the circumference of a circle is 3.14159 times the diameter. This is not a perfect world.
For those who don’t know which side to take, you can waffle on the matter. You can waffle and celebrate Pi Approximation Day. This is July 22nd. 22 divided by 7 (July is the seventh month) is 3.14285. Remember, waffles are round, so you’ll be safe in your decision. But, then again, some waffles are square.
