In a lead photograph, Mrs. Bessie Woodward of Sperryville shows the huge tomato plant which she has grown in her yard. The plant is over eight feet tall and has produced some very large tomatoes which Mrs. Woodward has shared with friends. Mrs. Woodward is 80 years old and does her own canning and preserving. At least 24 teams will compete in this year’s running of the 25th annual Invitational Handicap Mixed Doubles Whistle Cup Rappahannock County Tennis Tournament, according to Mrs. N.K.G. Tholand, chairman of the event. Round-robin elimination matches will begin Sunday, Aug. 31 at the tennis courts of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Parrish, Judge and Mrs. Rayner . Snead, Dr. and Mrs. Werner Krebser and Mr. and Mrs. James J. Kilpatrick. Finals will begin at 10 a.m., the following day at the Kilpatrick court on Route 621, two
