A few days after my conversation with Cooley, a letter from George Walters of Woodville informed me that flying squirrels (two of them — probably a mated pair) had taken possession of not one, but two bluebird nest boxes. "... we let them be," wrote Walters. "We hadn't seen any bluebirds anyway, so we figured the box was up for grabs."
