Sharon L. Pyne
Occupation: Long-term care Medicaid specialist at the Rappahannock Social Services Agency. Accomplishments: Sharon Pyne's early years were spent in Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan where her father was a diplomat. She attended the University of Maryland where she graduated with an American Studies diploma with majors in English, history and sociology. After 20 years as a technical recruiter and employment specialist, her current job is one of the most fulfilling in her career. Long-term care Medicaid involves working with nursing homes and with the elderly and disabled population. Long-term care Medicaid is a Federal program and very complicated; income and resources are the main eligibility components. Questions and inquiries about the specific programs are always welcomed. She, and husband Mike and daughter Lea live in the county with an English mastiff puppy and three cats. Lea is an honor student at i Rappahannock County high School and plays the flute in the RCHS band. She likes to help the seniors out by helping deliver food or presents to the shut-ins at Christmas and addressing cards to the nursing homes. Mike is a telecommunications consultant. Mrs. Pyne is a band booster volunteer who loves attending band functions and encouraging the young musicians. She enjoys reading, music, travel and spending time with her family.
