Teacher/student show planned
The Middle Street Gallery will have an exhibition of art by students from Rappahannock County High School, two high schools in Fauquier County and also art by some younger homeschooled children. Work by some adult students of Lois Manookian will also be on display. This show will run through the end of August.
Karate classes to begin
Shorin-Ryu Okinawan Karate classes will be held beginning Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Ki Theatre in Washington. The Flatwood Refuse and Recycling Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The site is closed on Monday and Tuesday. For additional information call 987-8985.

Whorton family reunion slated
A family reunion will be held Sept. 2 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington for the late Henry T. Whorton and Lillie M. Cloud Whorton. Family and friends are invited to come and bring a picnic basket.
Music Festival dates set
The fifth annual Rappahannock Music Festival, a concert featuring local musicians, will be held on the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10 in Sperryville, rain or shine. The two-day festival is sponsored by the musicians, all of whom will be playing for free, and a 100 percent volunteer staff. This annual concert is free, including free parking and free admission. The Front Royal Oratorio Society and its Music Director, George Amos will begin rehearsals for its 2000-2001 season on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church. Prospective new members are welcome; no auditions required. Come and join singers from a six-county area!
Mr. Amos promises an outstanding season for singers and audiences alike. The first concert will feature the Gloria of Antonie Vivaldi and the Magnificat by John Rutter.
