Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) presented the Planning Commission with an exhaustive outdoor lighting document that was developed and furnished because "there is a need for a comprehensive outdoor lighting ordinance in Rappahannock County to increase safety, provide security, prevent light pollution, and enhance the general welfare of the County.” The document provided included a representative lighting ordinance, as well as references to outdoor lighting in County documents, and technical information for the Planning Commission s use.
County Administrator John McCarthy praised the efforts of the RLEP and, specifically, the work of Don Audette in putting the outdoor lighting . document together. He then proposed that the Planning Commission establish a subcommittee to review the outdoor lighting
