President Lucia Kilby announced that garden club members may donate spring bulbs, day lily rhizomes and liriope plants to the Virginia Department of Transportation s state highway beautification project. Club members should bring their flower donations to the Garden Clubs of the Shenandoah District meeting Oct. 12 in Front Royal.

VDOT will replant all of the donated flowers. Any interested community member could also donate those flowers by giving them to any garden club member. Call Susan Jones at 675-3152 for information on flower donations.

A cornucopia of flowers and vegetables decorated the tea table of refreshments provided by hostesses DeeDee Axelson, Lucia Kilby and Helen Platt. The centerpiece and vegetables were donated by Mary Revercomb and Betty Wood.

At next month s meeting, the club will hear a program on re-blooming iris.
