A standing room only luncheon crowd of Rappahannock citizens had the opportunity to participate in a very informative Town Hall-type meeting with Senator Chuck Robb at the Flint Hill Public house Aug. 11. The questions covered a wide spectrum, ranging from National Missile Defense to Prescription Drug Programs for Senior Citizens. ^ His answers covered specific areas in this broad range of State and National concerns and provided a great deal of insight into the complicated job of being a Member of the JJ.S. Senate. The Senator serves on the Armed Service Committee, the Finance Pommittee and the Intelligence Committee. Some specifics of his message included:
• Robb's position on school vouchers was a definite "No." A8 support for his opinion, he stated "the public school system educates 90 percent of the population of school-age children, regardless of handicap or economic status. Vouchers siphon away necessary money from public schools."
• Tax cuts should be considered after assurance is given that Social Security is on sound basis including a plan for a Drug Prescription program and to pay down oh the national debt.
• The Senator favors research and development for a Missile Defense System but many other aspects of this policy must be considered especially the ABM treaties before* considering building the system.
