Despite prosperous economic times, there is a persistent need for the structure, funding and guidance for educational and recreational opportunity for local youth. The schools are indeed fortunate that private citizens and civic organizations have rendered assistance time and again for teachers and learners. However, we cannot escape such realities as a mounting teacher shortage nationwide, corresponding competition for those that are available and continued pressure to rise to more stringent state standards. It will require the goodwill and unflagging effort of the whole community to continue responding to these conditions.
