ing or putting on make-up while driving. People were courteous and drove in the right lane and the left lane was used merely for passing. This was the most well run highway system I have ever experienced. It took us quickly to Holland.
After arriving in Holland, we quickly found accommodation outside of Amsterdam at the beach front town of Zandvoort. Now Amsterdam is one crazy city with a lot of different attractions and a lot of culture, not necessarily Dutch culture but culture nonetheless.
I had been to Amsterdam before and had decided to walk the last time, but this time we drove, and seeing a city by car compared to walking is like seeing it in the day and seeing it in the night. My personal suggestion is to get a day pass for the river taxi. They run often enough and you can escape some of the hustle that is all around.
Amsterdam might be the largest and most popular Dutch city but I find the capital city The Hague to be my favorite. It is much quieter, more relaxed and also much more centralized. It is my favorite place to get a true glimpse of Dutch culture.
It houses the UN Peace Palace, the Royal Family, the Binnahof and the Dutch government. It is a city that you can spend a lot of time in and not be overwhelmed by.
Well, after one month on the road it was time to say goodbye to Europe and the friends that we had made on our way. We return now with a mind full of memories, and a album worth of experiences. After all we have seen and all we have done there is no place quite like home.
