Noble ideas
should be our goal
I was more than aghast when reading the article "Hypocrisy
isn’t all bad?" in the Oct. 11 Rappahannock News.
I really do not believe hypocrisy is what our forefathers had in mind when they set our fledgling nation into motion. I believe they intended more noble ideals such as Honor, Truth, Freedom, Responsibility as goals we all should aspire toward.
While I acknowledge we as a nation have set aside these more noble aspirations in our headlong rush to "win” and be "successful", I seriously question the wisdom of lowering our personal standards to be more in accord with observed behavior.
Perhaps a wiser choice would be if "We the people” banded together and deliberately voted for other than Republican/Democrat candidates for a few elections. Perhaps all of the political parties would then begin to choose more wisely in the future.
