These autumn weekends have been busy along Main Street, with tourists and weekenders flocking to Sperryville to view the fall colors, have lunch or dinner at the Appetite Repair Shop and browse through the shops. The economic pulse of the old retail district is definitely on the upswing.
Business owners and residents are looking forward to improvements promised by the Sperryville Gateway project, which is slowly moving toward an action phase after many months of talking, planning and debating. The project, which is financed in part by a Federal grant, is intended to make the village a more pedestrian-friendly place.
