Have you ever been visiting in a strange hou$e...maybe an old house with creaking doors and banging shutters? Perhaps you had occasion to stay the night You wake up in the night with moonlight filtering in through ’ the window. Suddenly, out of the comer of your eye, you see something move. Frightened, you switch on the lamp. There is nothing there...nothing but your imagination. With illumination, the shadows are gone.
Is it not true that we are usually afraid of the unknown? Much of our life is spent discovering the unknown. Perhaps we need to carry a lamp with us at all times.
We can. Psalm 119:1 OS tells us, “Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." With regular Bible reading, prayer, and weekly worship, those things that frighten us will diminish as our faith and knowledge in God's power and love increases. God will light the dark comers of our lives. We need not fear the shadows when He is there.
