quartets by Franz Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Dmitri Shostakovich for the opening concert of the new season.
The Axelrod Quartet, which is in residence at the Museum, performs there on the marvelous Stradivarius and Amati instruments that form one of the major highlights of that museum’s worldclass collection. Because of restrictions on the movement of these irreplaceable instruments, the Quartet generally performs on other fine old instruments for concerts outside the museum, as will be the case at the Theatre.
