Concert senes to continue
The six-county Community Concert Association announces the next professional attraction in its 2000-2001 subscription series at Culpeper County High School is The Boston Brass performing classics, popular music, and jazz at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2.
It is the third in the CCA’s 31 st season of five programs and by arriving early one may subscribe for this and two remaining events. Future concerts are the renown American Boychoir on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17 and Gus Giodano Jazz Dance Chicago on April 27. Country ham dinner planned
There will be an all-you-can-eat country ham dinner on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jeffersonton Community Center. The dinner also includes gravy, biscuits, potatoes, green beans and a dessert. Prices are $7.95 for adults and $4.50 for children. A child’s hot dog dinner will also be available for $2.50.
This weekend at Blue Moon Cafe
The Day Care Swindlers, a Rappahannock group will be performing at Blue Moon Cafe on Friday, Nov. 3.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, Tommy Lepson and The Lazy Boys will be performing. Lepson is an award-winning vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist and the band members have toured and recorded with guitar legend Nils Lofgreen (Springsteins' EStreet Band), Danny Gatton, Tom Principato, Catfish Hodge and others. They putting the finishing touches on their third CD, due out early next year.
Art auction at Humblestone Inn
Fauquier Free Clinic joins forces with nationally recognized Heisman Fine Arts Gallery Inc. to present a benefit art show and auction for Fauquier and Rappahannock counties on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Humblestone Inn for the Arts located off of Route 17 in Warrenton. The preview will be at 6:30 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. The $25 advance ticket price will include complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres throughout the evening. Proceeds will benefit the Fauquier Free Clinic. The clinic provides free health care and medicines to uninsured families in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties. Tickets may be purchased at the Town Duck, Chestnut Forks and Old Town Athletic Club. For further information call Emily Henry at 349-1400. Limited tickets available.
Agricultural Labor Seminar scheduled
An Agricultural Labor Seminar will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Graves Mountain Lodge at Syria from 9 a.m. to noon.
Jim Mooney, Agricultural Coordinator NE Region will speak at 9 a.m.; Warren Rice at 10 and Tony Wilkes at 11. Lunch will be served at 12:15. Topics will include Wage and Hour Division; Law Issues; Occupational Safety and Health Issues; Immigration and Naturalization Services and Immigration lssues/l-9 completion.
