Bazaar, bake sale at Amissville
A bazaar and bake sale will be held at Amissville United Methodist Church on US 211 on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Handmade items, Christmas decorations, household items, imported dolls, a white elephant table, bake sale and fresh pecans will all be featured items as well as lunch. The entire community is invited to attend and support this endeavor.
PTO fund raiser underway
The Rappahannock County Elementary School PTO has launched their main fund raiser for the year with a poinsettia sale. To purchase a poinsettia see any RCES student or contact Jimmy Swindler at 987-8597. Orders will be taken through Monday, Nov. 6. Plants will be available for pick up just after Thanksgiving. Prices start at $10 with assorted sizes and colors available.
Advisory Council to meet
The first meeting of the Special Education Advisory Council will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7 in Andra Logan’s new classroom at Rappahannock County High School. All interested parents are invited to attend. Programs for the year will be discussed, there will be a tour of the new part of the high school and plans for the committee’s role in the federal monitoring that is presently taking place will be discussed. “Please attend and join with us as we begin another school year together,” said Helen Williams.
TFR’s fall clean up underway
Trash Free Rappahannock (TFR) in cooperation with VDOT is currently conducting its fall roadside clean up campaign which will continue on Saturday, Nov. 4 and Nov. 11. Individuals and groups in the county interested in identifying roads in need of cleaning up, picking up roadside trash, working with the court ordered youth community service program, or contributing money to TFR’s new planned activities, should call either Buck Payne at 987-8303 or John Kiser at 987-8445 for more details.
