It also includes members of the Sperryville Gateway Committee, the Rappahannock Historical Society, property owners, and business persons.
In one of its first actions, the Cellular Coalition took note of an Oct. 12, 2000, letter submitted by the Superintendent of the Shenandoah National Park to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The Park's letter stated that one or more of the proposed Sprint towers would "have the potential of seriously compromising the Skyline Historic District’s scenic qualities."
The FCC responded on Oct. 17, 2000, asking that the Park and Sprint meet within 45 days to work out the "scenic qualities" issue.
