Branches" were
awarded for a wide variety
of specimens.
Members brought in beautiful branches of nandina, pyracantha, holly, beautyberry, winterberry, catoneaster, euonymous, Japanese cherry, and rabbitberry. Sally Havstad and Flo Phillips won blue ribbons for their violets entered in the house plant category.
Hostesses for the afternoon were Jane Batchelder, Libby Byam and Betty Wood.
Garden club members will be gathering greens and assembling Christmas swags, wreaths, and garlands for distribution Dec. 6. Orders for those greens may be placed with Sally Havstad at 987-9342 before Dec. 1. The club makes fresh wreaths of boxwood and of mixed greens, white pine garlands, and door swags.
Rappahannock County Garden Club sponsors youth at the Garden Club of Virginia Nature Camp, offers scholarships to high school graduating seniors, and supports county landscaping projects. All of the club's funding comes from this Christmas greens sale.
