With longtime recital partner violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, he performed over 80 Beethoven sonatacycle programs in the world's foremost concert venues during 1998, culminating in a Deutsche Grammophon CD release of the cycle which won the Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance, having also been nominated for Best Classical Album.
A film of the Paris performances was also produced and broadcast on European television. His 1995 Berlin recital with Ms. Mutter (Deutsche Grammophon) and a Brahms/Schumann disc with cellist Anner Bylsma (Sony Classical) were both nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Chamber Music Performance.
