Nov. 23, 1950

Official notification has been received that the county health office will be opened January 1, with Mrs. P. Lee Thornton as county nurse and Mrs. Joe Henry Aylor as clerk. The office will be located in the former Moffett law office, next to the Courthouse buildings. Walter Rector of Sperryville recently brought from his garden to the newspaper office two large turnips. One weighed- two and one-quarter pounds and the other- one and three-quarter pounds. Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Parker of Washington, D.C., have just sold their home and farm on highway 618, between Woodville and Laurel Mills to Daniel Jacobs of Warrenton. The farm, formerly known as the old Dick Wayland place, consists of 156 acres and a remodeled home of five rooms. The home faces Red Oak Mountain, part of which is included in the property.
