As I think about the children and family I can’t help but wonder what surprise vacation my imaginative husband has in mind this year. Last year we spent a few days somewhere warm. This year, it’s his turn to choose a getaway spot. All I know is that it is somewhere cold. I suspect that it will be a local skiing place, since we both enjoy that... perhaps some little place in the Shenandoahs or maybe even Wintergreen. We’ve never been there.
I’ve decided to bank on a skiing place of some sort and go ahead and get him a couple of silk turtlenecks. They’re warm and a good first layer to the ski attire. He likes cotton sweaters but I’m going to splurge and get him the official U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team sweater and hat. These 100-percent wool sweaters are made by Dale of Norway, the official outfitter to the Norwegian national ski teams since 1956.
He’ll like the distinctive pattern and because of their four-ply wool construction they will last long after the current U.S. team members are retired.
He’s heavy into high-tech and I hope he will enjoy the Smith Turbo fog-free ski goggles that I found. They’re fog-free because they have a little built in micro-electric fan that
