Grammy Award-winning pianist Lambert Orkis will give a fortepiano recital at The Theatre at Washington, Va., on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.
The program includes Mozart variations, waltzes by Chopin and Liszt, a Chopin nocturne, and two Beethoven sonatas, including the universally loved "Appassionata" sonata.
Lambert Orkis's musical interests encompass traditional and contemporary music performed on modern and period instruments. He has appeared in concert with cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and is fortepianist with the Castle Trio.
He has appeared internationally as soloist with major orchestras, and holds the position of Principal Keyboard of the National Symphony Orchestra.
Last season Orkis was privileged to present a recital in the Beethoven Birth House in Bonn, Germany, performing on an 1824 Graf fortepiano. A two-disc recording of solo Schubert works has just been released by EMI/Virgin Classics where Mr. Orkis performs both on an original 1826 Graf fortepiano housed in the Vleeshuis Museum in Antwerp, and
