For folks on a tight budget, the season of giving can quickly turn into the season of grieving. Grieving, that is, for all the money that so quickly disappears from purse and pocket.
Ignoring for a moment that Christmas spending would be much more manageable with a little pre-season planning, there is another way to cut back on holiday spending without scrimping on gifts.
For hundreds of years, people have given gifts born of their own creativity and imagination. Even when money is not an issue, many still enjoy giving — and receiving — a unique, hand-crafted gift. Anyone can go to the store and pluck something off the shelf, but a gift that required time, thought and effort can hold so much more value.
