The Fauquier County Office of Emergency Services is accepting applications for Firefighter/Paramedics. This position will perform specialist work in emergency medical services, hazardous materials, firefighting, and emergency response training.
Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of emergency medical assistance techniques, rescue, and firefighting. This work involves exposure to hazardous, dangerous, and physically demanding conditions including accidents, rescues, injuries, medical emergencies and fires, and being subject to 24-hour call. Prior experience working with the public is essential. Certifications in VA Office of Emergency Medical Services (EMT-C), VA Department of Fire Programs Firefighter II and Driver Operator, and VA Department of Emergency Services Haz Mat Operations are required An associate degree in Emergency Medical Services or Fire Science is desirable. Salary range is $28,769 - $43,154 with excellent fringe benefits. Selectees must pass a polygraph test. Final candidates must pass a County paid post-offer employment physical examination and drug test. Pre-employment testing consists of a written exam and physical agility test to be held at 8:00 a m. in Warrenton on Saturday, December 2, 2000. Candidates must first complete a 1 V4 mile run on Thursday, November 30, 2000 at 6:00 p.m.
