It’s well known that a group of Lions is called a “Pride”. Well, that’s when Lions are living in their natural habitat. We’ve also heard that “Pride goeth before a fall”. But not this year. Not with the Rappahannock Lions. The local Lions have never had a better year.
Our membership has continued to grow. Our programs have been successful and our enthusiasm has remained high. We live in a wonderful “natural habitat”. It’s hard to beat Rappahannock County, especially this summer, so far.
We owe our current good fortune to a fine team of Lion “Pride” leaders and to the community good will and the multitude of generous friends in local businesses and volunteers among our neighbors throughout the year.
On July 12 at the county park, the Lions, their families and friends held their annual picnic meeting. The great supply of food was even more varied and delicious. The event was not merely a “picnic”, but was also an official meeting at which we conducted the “changing of the guard” when the new year’s club leadership, the new members of the Board of Directors were introduced and sworn in for their new responsibilities.
