before an open window that looks into trees and perhaps a pond. About to devour some grapes, this seductive lady seems to welcome a visit. In nutural tones throughout, the picture conveys an impression of a warm, sultry summer afternoon.
“Aphrodite” contrasts with Steven Kenny’s “Seed Saver. 2000". oil on canvas, portraying a woman with her back to us. Five ears of corn are woven into pulled back, long hair. The brown tassels that resemble curling hair which grow from the ends of the ears dangle against the woman’s skin in a way that must irritate her, a humorous aspect of an otherwise fairly seriouS representation of the figure. If she would only turn around!
